60th European Go Congress Ends in St Petersburg
The 60th European Go Congress closed in St Petersburg with the closing cermony on Saturday 6th August, just after the end of the European Open. Of the 597 players in this, Kim Young-Sam, 7d Korea, was the best taking the Open title on tie break. He had 8 wins and one SOS point more than the new European Champion, Ilja Shikshin, 1p Russia, in second place. Chan Yitien, 7d Taiwan, and Ali Jabarin, 1p Israel, also won 8 games and came third and fourth, by 2 SODOS points / 2 SOS points.
