Pair Go at the European Go Congress

History

Since 1992 there has been a Pair Go Championship at the annual European Go Congress, except in 1998. For years this was a friendly event with handicap games and lots of entries, even though it was held on one of the days off from the main event, or during an evening or two. But recently it has switched to a serious tournament with prize money for the top players thanks to support by the WPGA. Pairs are often made up players from different nations, which cannot happen in the EPGC. In 2011 the event attracted 90 pairs and in 2012 82 pairs split into 32 open and 50 handicap section pairs.

See the reports of the congresses for details of each Pair Go event (where available).
