The 8th Kido Cup, held in Hamburg took place from May 14th to 16th this year. This event has attracted many top European players as well as go enthusiasts with its friendly and entertaining atmosphere and a total amount of 10.000 Euro as prize, including cash prizes and attractive Go equipments from Hebsacker Verlag Go Shop. The main tournaments were categorized into two groups, a separated competition between the top European eight players according to the EGF rating, and a main tournament for the rest of players.

In the group of top eight players, Ilya. Shikshin 1p from Russia has won the tournament undefeated. Ali Jabarin 1p, the Grand Slam winner came the 2nd place and Pavol Lisy 1p occupied the 3rd place.
A new face, Su YuanLong 6d based in Braunschweig has dominated the main tournament and won the tournament without surprise. Young German player, Jonas Welticke 5d won the 2nd place.

Another highlight of the tournament was the presence of the three professional teachers. Apart from the beloved Yoon Young Sun, 8. Dan based in Hamburg, the tournament was visited by Kim Young Sam, 9. Dan and Kim Chan Woo, 6. Dan from Korea. Their excellent teaching was much appreciated by the Go enthusiasts who attended the event.
