Yesterday evening, following a long illness, Mr. Nie Weiping 9p, a historical figure of the Chinese Go world and of the worldwide Go community, passed away in Beijing.

Our thoughts go to his family and friends, and to all Go fans around the world.

Mr. Nie Weiping had a long-lasting impact on the Go world, including in Europe, where he taught and was highly respected.

Those who attended EGC 2012 can surely remember him: an amazing player and teacher.

His legacy in the Go world will continue through his Academy, his students, and his fans.
