After a - too - long hiatus, the EGF Academy is back!

Helping our young players to improve in a professional and coordinated environment is what the EGF Academy is all about. Whether you simply want to get stronger or to actually become a professional player, joining the Academy will benefit all its students.

What can you expect?

• Weekly lectures and reviews
• Weekly league game with other fellow young players
• A sense of community as everybody improves together
• Homework (don’t run away yet! We mostly mean tsumego solving)

A cycle runs for two months, with players going up or down in the league.
We will have lectures (recorded) which you will be able to watch as many times as you want.
As the Academy will grow and last, we will have archives as well, with past lectures and games reviews available.

What do we expect from you?

• Commitment to learning (It will be about 4h a week devoted to Go - this amount of time includes lectures and games)
• Respect towards everyone, students and teachers alike, sportsmanship
• Beating ben0 or Tanguy in a tournament game within 2 years*

Hopefuly, you won't be disappointed. If you read carefuly, you already know the answer though.

The EGF appointed two very very dedicated teachers with strong teaching experience:

Tanguy Le Calvé - 1p

Tanguy became a professional player in 2019, since then he has participated in numerous international tournaments. His best achievement to date has been to get 3 wins out of 7 games in the very tough Chinese C League in 2025. With more than 15 years of teaching experience, Tanguy will bring his balanced and flexible style to the table!


Benjamin Dréan-Guénaïzia - 1p

Benjamin became a professional player in 2025. Prior to that, he was one-time European champion and several times French champion. He has been very active on the European stage in the past few years. Benjamin has been teaching Go for more than 10 years and he will showcase his thick and combative style to the students!

Who can join us?

That's a very relevant question as well!

We need 4 things from you:

• You are under 21 years old (more or less)
• You are above 5 kyu (again, more or less)
• You understand English
• You have the motivation to improve!

Tuition fee:

 The rate is 35€ per month. The collected fees are used to pay the teachers and promote the Academy.
