Indeed, this year three positions were open to welcome new board members - secretary, vice-president and president-elect.

This was of course the opportunity and time to thank Martin Stiassny for all his dedication to the game of go and the community, for so many years serving as the leader of the EGF.
Martin will continue to handle the role of president up to 2026.
With only one candidate to the position of Vice-President, Damir Medak (Croatia) was reelected as a VP, a position he occupies since July 2022.
Damir has been strongly involved in the go community, both locally in developing the Croatian go community, and internationally, through the EGF, by leading new projects and tournaments, such as the SEYGO Tour, securing funds or activing as referee in many major tournaments.
As a new secretary, Eren Kurter (Türkiye), again the only candidate, replaces Nicholas Roussos.
Eren is notably the president of the Turkish Go Association and main organiser of the EGC 2026. Prior to becoming a full board member, he was an auditor of the EGF.
One peculiar moment was the election of a president elect, who would work hand in hand with the current EGF president Martin Stiassny till the end of the year, when they would assume the full role.
Among the three candidates, Manja Marz (Germany) was elected in the first round with an absolute majority.
Manja is strongly involved in the go community, first as a player, and founder of the Jena International Go School. She also organised multiple go tournaments and has been a key reference in the organisation of EGCs. She proposes a different structure for the EGF, with an extended board, and intends to lead new projects with a special attention to transparency and financial stability.
