Call for Presentations: 2nd International Conference on Go Studies at EGC2024

The International Society of Go Studies (ISGS), in collaboration with the European Go Congress Committee, proudly announces the 2nd International Conference on Go Studies. This event, set for August 7th, 2024, in Toulouse, France, will focus on exploring AI’s transformative role in go, under the conference theme “AI-Powered Strategies and Innovations in Go”. Open to researchers, scholars, practitioners and enthusiasts, the conference offers a unique platform to discuss AI’s impact on go, covering topics from enhanced strategies and education to ethical issues and human-AI collaboration.

We invite concise presentation proposals (under 500 words) by April 1st, 2024 (no April fools’ jokes, please!), with notifications of acceptance by May 1st. Final presentations in the form of PDFs are due by June 21st. While we are currently unable to offer financial support to speakers this year, we’re actively seeking sponsorships to potentially cover some costs. We welcome sponsors to support the conference, presenting an excellent opportunity for individuals, go-related companies and AI companies to showcase their products to a receptive audience and engage with the go community.

The conference, taking place on a main tournament-free day of the EGC, is a chance to network, share insights and join a community interested in go and/or AI. Whether presenting or attending, participants will gain valuable insights and connect with others passionate about the future of go and AI.

For more details, submission guidelines, and sponsorship opportunities and attendance, visit our website or contact us at [email protected]. Your contributions and participation are highly appreciated, and we look forward to an event filled with innovative ideas and engaging discussions.

Call for Video Submissions: The 2nd ISGS Go Promotion Awards 2024

The International Society of Go Studies (ISGS) announces the 2nd ISGS Go Promotion Awards 2024, building on the success of its inaugural event (see August 2023 issue of the EGJ). This contest encourages go fans, teachers and promoters worldwide to share innovative strategies for teaching and spreading the game. This year shifts focus to videos, seeking entries that either document go promotion efforts or are specifically crafted to attract newcomers. Submissions should be in English or have English subtitles, not exceed eight minutes and be submitted in high-definition format for optimal viewing. Judging will be based on innovation, potential impact and presentation quality, with a prize pool of 1 million KRW. Entries are due by June 1st, and the three winners will be announced at the ISGS International Go Conference on August 7th, during the European Go Congress in Toulouse, France. Participation is free, and a diverse panel of judges from across the globe will evaluate the entries. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for the go community to share insights on how to engage new audiences and inspire the next generation of players. For detailed guidelines on how to participate, the judging criteria and additional information, please visit the ISGS homepage. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. We eagerly anticipate your submissions.
