Of the 597 players in this, Kim Young-Sam, 7d Korea, was the best taking the Open title on tie break. He had 8 wins and one SOS point more than the new European Champion, Ilja Shikshin, 1p Russia, in second place. Chan Yitien, 7d Taiwan, and Ali Jabarin, 1p Israel, also won 8 games and came third and fourth, by 2 SODOS points / 2 SOS points.
