Another big success for the Strasbourg tournament.
The EGF pro qualification gave us a great opportunity to gather the best European players in Strasbourg this year.

All games and results of the 5th EGF Pro Qualification.

With 74 participants, including all eliminated players from the Pro Qualification, the competition at the top end of the this year's tournament is very strong indeed.

It was also a huge responsibility for us to make sure that everything would go smoothly for the players. After five days of hard work, we ended up pretty satisfied. Playing conditions for those who were aiming at becoming pro were highly appreciated.

So were the different parties we organized in the evening : beers and games at la Taverne, the bar where Strasbourg players usually meet, the traditional "tarte flambée" evening on saturday and the last reviews and analysis on the quays on sunday night.

Many participants were regular players from Strasbourg tournaments. Newcomers claimed that they would surely come back.

Both finalists and past winners Youngsam and Seongjin enjoyed fighting for the title again. Local star Thomas Debarre took a valuable third place and of course the weekend heroe Tanguy Le Calvé is not ready to forget his stay that had started by the celebration of his 24th birthday and ended with the start of his new life as a professional go player!

Special thanks need to go to the city of Strasbourg, who sponsored both events ( the Tournament and the EGF Pro Qualification 2019) by providing us with a very nice playing hall, directly in the centre of Strasbourg

Where on Thursday and Friday only 16 players filled the big room ,now a total of 74 players are sweating, swearing, moaning and laughing over their games..

At the top board mainly silence is a virtue and the lower boards, where some children play soft speaking and fast playing is the main action.

For the others a mixtures of concentration and relaxing... Here too you can see tension being changed into relieve depending on the board positions.

Several clashes in the top were played and some revanches were played between the topplayers fighting for a chance to become professional.

For those finished playing a live broadcast of the EGF Pro Qualification were shown.
