The European Women's Go Championship of 2024 took place in Bratislava, Slovakia on the 14th and 15th of September. After 5 rounds of suspensr and thrilling games with many twists and turns, last year's champion Li Ting 1p (Austria) took first place, winning all her games.
It's her second time in a row winning this championship (out of two competitions), congratulations!!
Manja Marz 4d from Germany followed in second place, and Olesia Malko 4d from Ukraine in third place, both players losing only to Li Ting.
During the championship, Lukáš Podpěra 7d (Czech champion) and Benjamin Dréan Guénaïzia 7d (European Champion 2022) were both reviewing games for the players. Many very young players with a good level took part in this championship, which is promising news for the future of women's go!
Below is the game between Olesia and Ting. The young Ukrainian player achieved some great results, defeating Rita Pocsai 5d in the 3rd round and playing a very solid first part of the game against the champion.
