EYGC to Select European Representative for the 11th GLOBIS Cup
We are pleased to announce an important update regarding the European Youth Go Championship (EYGC) and international youth competition opportunities.

After a pause, the prestigious GLOBIS Cup, organized by the Nihon Ki-in, will return in 2026. The 11th GLOBIS Cup will take place in late June 2026 in Tokyo, Japan, and the EGF has been invited to nominate one European representative.

Some of the conditions for participation are as follows:
Age requirement: Players must be 21 years old or younger on 1 January 2026.
Financial support: Accommodation and meals are covered by the organizers. 50% of the airfare is subsidized.
If the selected player is under 18 years old, accommodation and meals will also be covered for one accompanying person (the accompanying person must pay for their own flight).

To determine the European representative, it was decided that the European Youth Go Championship, that will take place on March 25-28, 2026, in Plitvice Lakes, Croatia, will serve as the qualification tournament for the GLOBIS Cup.

To meet the eligibility requirements, the oldest age category of the EYGC will be changed from U20 to U21. The age cut-off date for this category will follow the standard EGF rule of 1 January of the respective year. The winner of the U21 category at the EYGC will be invited to represent the EGF at the 11th GLOBIS Cup.

The application deadline for the GLOBIS Cup is 30 March 2026 (the Monday following the EYGC). As a result, the U21 winner will need to confirm their willingness to participate shortly after the championship.

Because the EYGC early-bird registration deadline is approaching, an extension of the reduced fee will be granted to players who register in the U21 group after this change.

Eligible players are encouraged to register for the EYGC and compete for the opportunity to represent Europe at the GLOBIS Cup in Tokyo.
