In February 2006 the Nikkei Newspaper sponsored the fourth World Student Oza in Tokyo. The match was held at the Nihon Kiin Headquarters in Ichigaya. 16 students were invited to take part, both male and female. As well as Asian countries, Europe got to send three players and North and South American one player each. This time Japan was top with first and fourth place, but Jie Li of the USA came second. Taiwan were third and Korea fifth.
