The European Female Go Championship 2018 took place in Helsinki (Finland) on 8th-9th September. With 29 participants from 9 countries, it was one of the largest European female championships, and as 16 were dan players, also the strongest one.  Read more...

Chinese C League 2018 was held from 10th to 20th June 2018 in Wuxi, China

It was the second time that the European team took part in this league. The European Pro Championship 2018 in Vatra Dornei, Romania, was used to decide who would play for Europe, and the qualifiers were: Pavol Lisy 2p, Ilya Shikshin 2p, and me (Artem Kachanovskyi 1p). The last player was selected by the chinese sponsors of our team - Tsinghua University. They picked Mateusz Surma 1p, the hero of the last year's C League. It's been 10 years since the European Go Congress came to Leksand, that small town that extols both the beauty of rural Sweden, and the charms of quaint little wooden horses. To celebrate the anniversary two events came to town. “Ten Years After”, a Grand Prix tournament, and the European Student Go Championship. World Youth Goe Championship at Stahleck Castle, Bacharach, Germany, sponsored by the Ing Foundation, 18-23 July 2018

For the first time ever, the World Youth Goe Championship took place in Germany. It was the 35th Championship of its kind, and it was for the seventh time in Europe.
Alltogether 22 players from East and South East Asia, America and Europe played five rounds in two categories Under-16 and Under-12, and the best four played out the champions in semifinals and finals. The winners of both sections came from China: Lǐ Zéruì (1p, Under-16) and Xiào Zébīn (6d, Under-12). During the medieval farewell banquet, both winners were knighted by the jester of the castle.  Read more...

Moyo Open Tournament, Bonus Point C, Pardubice, the Czech Republic, 13th - 15th of July 2018

Fourty four players from six countries (Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Serbia) participated in the Moyo Open Tournament, which was held in Pardubice, the Czech Republic, during 13th - 15th of July 2018, as a part of Chess and Games Festival. Not only was the tournament included in the Bonus Point Tour, but it was also a last chance to improve your rating before the European Championship (EC) in Pisa, thus gaining a better position in the initial chart of the EC pairing.  Read more...
