The 6th World Baduk championship for players born in 1980 or earlier

You might have thought already that "oh, I'm too old to play go or improve" when going over the fatidic 30 years, when blunders become a regular part of your go journey after 10pm. But...let us prove you wrong! Your career is just continuing or starting anew, with an invitation to a high-level championship in a beautiful resort on the beach, on an Island in Korea, in June (assuming you win the qualification, and that's the point we're to discuss below).

Indeed, the Korean Baduk Association is organising the 6th World Baduk Championship for players born in 1980 or earlier.
It will take place on June 3-5 2025 in Ramada Plaza & Seaone Resort, Jeollanam-do, Korea.
The tournament will have 16 players: Korea 5, China 2, Japan 2, Chinese Taipei 1, Sponsor’s wildcard 2, Europe 1, North America 1, Oceania 1, Southeast Asia 1. (see details)

Players will be responsible for their own airfare, while all other expenses will be covered by the KBA. However, the EGF will offer 250€ help for the flight tickets.

How to participate in that appealing tournament?

As we have only one seat, qualifiers will be played online to define the best European (half)-veteran for this tournament.
A maximum of 8 players (rank based) from Europe will play a knockout mini-tournament from April 23 to 25th - one round per evening at 6:30pm. They must be born in 1980 or earlier and can be amateurs or professionals.

Registration are possible until April 16th 5pm CEST. The best 8 players will be informed of their qualification (the list will be updated on the website) and pairing will be made.

Direct knockout, 3 rounds.
