Proposal to EGF Regarding EYGC 2007

Proposed by Netherlands (Hosts of EYGC 2007)

Proposal to change point 10 of Support of Young Players at European Youth Goe Championship from: 

10.  Every participating country can send one team leader and one
     accompanying person with every 5 children, but a maximum of 5 persons
     together, who will have their accommodation paid by an organizer. 

     The Team leader can also claim the same travel contribution as 
     assigned to players in top groups from his/her country.

To:

     accompanying person with every 5 children, but a maximum of 5 persons
     together. The team leader will have their accommodation paid by the
     organizers, the other accompanying adults (up to a maximum of 4 persons 
     per country) will get half of the accommodation paid by the organizers.

     The Team leader can also claim the same travel contribution as
     assigned to players in top groups from his/her country.

Advantage of revised support rules:

  • It will be better to make and control the budget for the European Youth Championships, especially for larger tournaments, when the cost for the accompanying adults will be a major and variable factor in the budget The number of accompanying adults can not be predicted beforehand and the contribution from the EGF for the accommodation costs for the accompanying adults is limited to a fixed amount.
  • It reduces the number of accompanying adults who visit the tournament as a "tourist", when accommodation is completely free.

    • For information, the strength limits for support that will be used for the European Youth Goe Championship 2007 in Zandvoort the Netherlands (after consulting with the EGF) will be:

    1. Top group in under 18 category will be set to 2200 (stronger than 2 dan).
    2. Middle group in under 18 category will be set 1700-2200 (from 4 kyu to 2 dan).
    3. Top group in under 12 category will be set to 1300 (8 kyu and stronger).
    4. Middle group in under 12 category will be set 900-1300 (from 12 to 8 kyu).
