Annual General Meeting 2021, some Updates

In 2021 the european congress was again canceled, and so an in person meeting was not possible. Thus all country representatives had instead to sit in front of a camera! 26 of the 37 countries joined the online meeting. Contrary to the last two meetings we could finally agree on a decision for a new membership fee system, and the election for the two board members for the Iwamoto European Foundation IEF also happened this time.  Read more...

Special General Meeting January 2021

Due to the uncertainity caused by the Covid-19 pandemic many of the administrative and planning tasks of the EGF couldn't be handled at the usual Annual Meeting in July 2020. Several countries couldn't vote at that meeting as they had lost their status as a developing country, they would have needed to pay 200 € instead of the reduced fee of 50€.   Read more...

Sure, there are more important problems in life than Go, but sometimes Go can help at least a little bit to solve these issues, too. One such issue is poliomyelitis („polio“). This terrible virus disease used to be very frequent. It affects mostly children, destroys nerve centers and often leads to severe and lasting handicap or even death. Poliomyelitis can be effectively prevented by a well explored and safe vaccination. Thanks to this, the number of new cases per year went down from 350,000 in 1988 to less than 100 in 2019. Now, polio exists in only two countries of the world, Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Read more...

Every year during our European go congress (EGC), the European go championship (EC) is organised.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic the 2020 EGC couldn't take place in Ukraine. Hence, the European go championship was cancelled, and we lost our funding for its prizes.  Read more...

Pandanet Go European Team Championship - France keeps its European title

The French team managed last weekend to remain European champions after defeating Ukraine, Czechia and Russia. During the regular season, Junfu, Tanguy, Thomas, Benjamin, Rémi and Florent did their job, taking second place in the league, and qualifying for the finals. Unfortunately, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the final couldn’t take place in Ukraine as planned initially and had to be organized online.  Read more...
