On December 8, the Nihon Ki-in announced the Finnish-born Antti Törmänen (26) as a professional go player. Antti will debut as a professional player on April 1, next year. The 18th International Go-Tournament "Go to Innovation" was held this week-end (November 13-15) in Berlin, Germany. Although the tournament is very interesting for its special rules and big prizes, the number of players was relatively small in comparasion with previous years.   Read more...

The second Jin LONG CHENG Cup World Team Go Championship (Zhu Gang Cup) will be held from the 15th of December until the 23rd of December 2015. The venue will be Bai Yun Hotel, Guangzhou, China.
The registration is open for every country. Each country can nominate one team that consists of three players. Chinese rules are applied for the competition. The total amount of prizes will be 5.000.000 RMB. The registration is until 30th of November.  Read more...

XXI Japanese Ambassador Cup in Russia, the biggest and the oldest Russian tournament, was held this weekend (from 24th to 25th October) in Moscow. The playing hall with a capacity of 160 players seemed to be too small for such a big number of interested players.
2 days before the tournament started, a big press conference was held at the Russia Today INA, where many big names took part.  Read more...

The Sankei Tournament, sponsored by Sankei newspaper, is held annually by Kansai Ki-in in Osaka. Pros and amateurs compete in separate preliminaries to qualify to the main tournament.

The 2nd Qinling Mountains Cup Silk Road International City Weiqi Tournament will start tomorrow! The tournament is held in Xi'an, China from October 9th till October 11th 2015.
Today, 20 representatives from Europe, our president Martin Stiassny and 19 players have attended the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of this tournament. Together,players from 21 cities from 13 countries will participate in this team competition.  Read more...
