SEYGO tournament at the 66th EGC in Toulouse

The second SEYGO tournament of the Season Six of Saijo European Youth Go Tour was played in Toulouse, France, on July 26-27 (Friday and Saturday), parallel to Pandanet Teams Finals, finishing just before the opening of the 66th European Go Congress.

It was a five rounds tournament for players aged 18 or younger. Players born in 2006 and later shall play as U18, and players born in 2012 and later shall play as U12. The tournament begins as a regular Open tournament (both U12 and U18 players playing in the same tournament) with Knock-Out phases, separate for U12 and for U18, starting in the most appropriate round. At the end, we had clear winners, runner-up and the third place for each age group. 

In the U18 age group, the winner was Shukai Zhang, 5d from Germany, Stjepan Medak, 4d from Croatia, came second, Antoni Bugaj, 2d from Poland, took the third place.

In the U12 age group, the winner was Bende Barcza, 2d from Hungary, Bartik Dach, 3d from Czechia, came second, Lilly Hu, 1kyu from Austria, took the third place.

The winners were awarded medals and SEYGO vouchers (150, 100 and 50 EUR for the first three places in each age group, respectively) during the very nice Opening Ceremony of the 66th European Go Congress. At the same time, the three best players in each age group for SEYGO Season Five (2023), were awarded with trophies and medals. For the U18 age group, Stjepan Medak took the first place and the trophy, Roko Crvelin was second, and Vsevolod Ovsieenko, 5d from Ukraine, was third. For the U12 age group, Bende Barcza took the first place and a trophy, Bartick Dach was second, and Nicholas Patrascu from Romania was third.

The SEYGO Tour Season Six continues in Zaostrog, Croatia, August 17-24, 2024, and then in Istanbul, Turkey, October 19-20, 2024.
