The 5th European Go Grand Slam Tournament, also called Yike Cup, was held 25th - 28th April in Berlin, Germany.
For those who are not familiar with the Grand Slam, let me explain in a few words what it is. Grand Slam is the most prestigious tournament in Europe with the winner's prize € 10,000. 12 selected players are qualified to participate. All EGF professionals are automatically qualified. For the rest of the players there are several ways to join, including a qualification tournament. Mateusz Surma 2p has won the first two games of the Transatlantic Professional Go Team Championship, defeating Andy Liu 1p and Calvin Sun 1p of the United States. Turkish Play-Offs & Turkish Women's Go Championship 2019

Turkey is one of the most active go countries in Europe, with a large base of players and enthusiastic organisers.
In the weekend of 2-3 February both the Turkish Play-Off Tournament and the Turkish Women's Go Championship took place in İstanbul.
Tuğkan Eren (2 dan) and Birand Adal (2 dan) earned the right to represent Turkey at the KPMC and the WAGC respectively. Hülya Çolak (1 kyu) became Turkish women's champion for the second time, edging out defending champion Seval Altuğ (1 dan).  Read more...

The 2nd Kedros Cup

The Grandslam Qualification, held on the end of previous week in Bratislava, was followed by the 2nd Kedros Cup week-end tournament on the 16th to 17th March. The tournament attracted quite a big number of participants - 70 in total, from 15 countries. The event therefore became the biggest one in Slovakia, not only by the number of participants, but also its prize pool of more than 1000 euros.   Read more...
