The Amsterdam International Go Tournament took place on the long sunny weekend of 25-28th May. The main event, which was happening this year for the 60th time, attracted 83 players from 18 countries, including the United States. In this article, Marika Dubiel (2d, the Netherlands) shares a go diary, with contributions from a selection of the top dan players who experienced the tournament this year: Chi-Min Oh (7d, France), Jonas Welticke (6d, Germany), Dominik Boviz (6d, Hungary) and Sinan Depov (5d).

Croatian Go Association (HIGOU) is performing a go project in several schools in different cities of Croatia. The project name is “Go – the game that teaches us to think”. The partners are two primary schools (Zagreb and Lipovljani), two secondary schools (Zagreb and Kutina), one special education center (Velika Gorica), one kindergarten (Zagreb) and the City of Kutina. The project is financed for one school year (ending in August 2017) by Croatian Ministry of Science and Education and co-financed by the City of Kutina. As a scribe I spent most of my time with the players of the Grand Slam Tournament.

As told in part one, my first game as scribe was the game between the two old timers Catalin Taranu and Alexandre Dinerchtein, a game which Alexandre won.

Because of this result Catalin was able to play in the team tournament together with his friends Cristian Pop and Cornel Burzo.  Read more...

A few weeks before both tournaments started, for me the preparations had already begun. Laptops and a projector had to be organized and prepared for this event, so that all the games could be broadcast via KGS and that players from the China Cup Berlin could watch the games in the Grand Slam without disturbing the players.  Read more...

The 46th Prague Go Tournament, the Korean Ambassador's Cup, was held on the week-end of the 22th – 23th April in Prague, Czech Republic. It is the oldest tournament in the Czech Republic, with a long tradition that is now 46 years old, and it is also one of the biggest events in Czechia. A total of 111 players from 15 different countries participated in the competition, and 12 of them were 5 dan and above.  Read more...

The Easter tournament in Paris, sponsored by Variantes and Guo Juan's Go School, took place from 15 to 17 April. Overall, the tournament attracted 135 players, including several of Europe's best players to make an exceptionally strong top group.  Read more...

The Open IGC 2017 go tournament was held on the weekend of the 8th-9th of April in Lausanne, Switzerland. The free accommodation and good prizes attracted around 40 players, among whom were 3 EGF Professionals, a former Korean insei and a few 6 dan players.  Read more...
